Founded in 1979, Barbara Inc. has provided construction and development services for more than four decades, building a strong foundation of expertise in planning, design, construction, and residential and commercial real estate development.

In 1985, in response to changing market conditions and the evolving needs of its clients, BHDS Group was established as a firm providing owner's representative services and professional construction management.

Building on decades of experience in the architecture, engineering, and construction industries, BHDS Group provides independent leadership and expertise throughout the design and construction process. Our experience encompasses planning, design, procurement, construction, and project closeout, allowing us to bring a practical and informed perspective to complex projects.

Today, BHDS Group represents owners on unique residential, commercial, institutional, and capital projects, providing the experience, oversight, and independent perspective necessary to protect the owner's interests and investment.

Lawrence Barbara

Principal-in-Charge

Lawrence Barbara brings more than 50 years of professional experience in planning, design, construction of unique projects with purposeful architecture.

His experience includes national and international projects and encompasses a broad range of complex project types. Through this work, he has developed extensive knowledge in the management of cost, time, scope, quality, and project risk.

As Principal-in-Charge, Lawrence remains actively involved in the business and provides leadership and oversight throughout each BHDS engagement. His practical understanding of the architecture, engineering, and construction industries enables BHDS to serve as an informed and independent advocate for its clients.

His philosophy is straightforward: Listen carefully. Establish clear objectives. Anticipate problems. Protect the owner's interests. Deliver the project.

Michael Marcyniak

Lead Project Manager 

Michael Marcyniak serves as Lead Project Manager for BHDS Group, providing leadership and oversight throughout all phases of project delivery, including pre-development planning, programming, design coordination, procurement, construction administration, and project closeout. With more than 18 years of experience in architecture, planning, design, and construction management, he has successfully managed a diverse portfolio of luxury residential, commercial, educational, hospitality, office, retail, financial, industrial, and mixed-use developments.

Michael's experience encompasses both high-end residential and complex commercial projects, bringing a comprehensive understanding of the unique requirements, expectations, and challenges associated with each market sector. His luxury residential experience includes custom homes, estate renovations, and premium residential developments where attention to detail, architectural quality, owner advocacy, and exceptional project execution are critical. His commercial experience spans a wide range of project types involving extensive stakeholder coordination, technical complexity, budget management, and schedule control.

Throughout his career, Michael has advanced through every stage of project delivery, from design team member to Project Manager and Project Lead. This progression has provided him with extensive expertise in programming, planning, design development, construction documentation, consultant coordination, procurement, contract administration, permitting, and construction oversight for both new construction and renovation projects.

Michael possesses substantial experience managing educational, commercial, and institutional facilities, including renovations, additions, adaptive reuse projects, and new facility development. His broad technical background includes the coordination of multiple building systems and construction methodologies, enabling him to effectively manage projects of varying scale, complexity, and delivery method while maintaining project objectives related to quality, budget, and schedule.

In addition to his design and construction management expertise, Michael has extensive experience navigating entitlement, permitting, and regulatory approval processes. He regularly coordinates with project stakeholders, consultants, owners, contractors, and regulatory agencies to facilitate project approvals, resolve challenges, and maintain project momentum throughout the development and construction process.

Michael's ability to bridge the gap between design, construction, and owner objectives allows him to effectively lead multidisciplinary teams while protecting client interests and ensuring successful project outcomes. His collaborative management style, technical expertise, proactive communication, and commitment to problem-solving contribute to the successful delivery of both luxury residential and commercial developments.
